The Man that hath no music in himself, nor is not mov'd with concords of sweet sounds,
is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils; Let no such man be trusted!

W. Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice (1597)

The history of the choir, established 1917 and royal as of 1946, is on the one-hand a story of performances and concerts during this long period.
It is an exalted story of musical journeys to Greece, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Austria, Italy, the former Soviet Union and Tsjecho-Slovakia.
It is the proud story of challenging concerts together with orchestras, solo performers and ensembles, but also with the Dutch Dance Theater, with a carillion and with accompaniment music.
It is the gratifying story of musical compostions, which have been written for the choir or dedicated to by renowned and innovative composers like Jurriaan Andriessen, Henk Badings, Ruud Bos, Jaap Geraedts, Aart de Kort, Daan Manneke, Bohuslav Martinu, Marius Monnikendam en Edwin Schimscheimer. It is the story of the conductor, René Verhoeff, who for more than thirty years conveys his enthusiasm and zeal onto he choir.
It is the story of spouses and partners, the most loyal fans, who improvise in order to solve problems like hosting, ticket sale, catering etc.

Above all it is the fascinating story of approximately hundred very diffrent men, who again and again - and for some of them many years hence - find each other in remarkable loyalty in the weekly rehearsals; in the relentless practising of elaborate musical compositions; in the happy gratification of a succesfull performance; in experienced emotions, which regulary are bestowed upon them by performances; in the unstructured fun after the performance; in the hard discipline of presentation during concerts; in the exalted singing at birthdays and other happy events; in shared grief when a colleague is onthe path to his final destiny.

And because of all this cannot live without it.

We would like to share with you our enthusiasm and accomplishments, especially our musical emotion.
