Carolus Antonius Dingeman (Charles) van der Veeke, born 1954 in Rotterdam, acquired his teaching certificate piano -B in 1979 at Academy for Music in Rotterdam. He studied with Ton Hartsuiker and Michael Davidson. The following years he underwent several interpretation trainings such as Beethoven interpretation with Malcolm Frager, Mozart interpretation with Lilly Kraus, various romantic composers in particular Chopin with Vlado Perlemuter, baroque interpretation using clavecimbel with Arthur Debussy and baroque to early romanticism with David Porceleijn. In 1987 he acquired, in a record time of study, practice license choir direction + orchestra direction at the Music Conservatory at Arnhem. He studied with Jan Eelkema, Joop Schets, Hans van den Hombergh, Uwe Gronostay (choirdirection) and Ger Vos and Lex Veelo (orchestradirection). In 1995 he underwent the training orchestradirection led by A. Kersjes, with the Randstedelijk Begeleidingsorkest.

In his professional career as pedagogue and tutor Charles van de Veeke first worked for several years at Stichting Nieuwerkerkse Muziekschool and, momentarily, at Stichting Kunstzinnige Vorming Rotterdam whereby alongside the regular piano-lessons he also teaches leading ensembles en small symfonic orchestras. For many years he was conductor of the Gouds Jeugd Symfonie Orkest, which he set up himself. For several decades he directs the professional orchestras theaterproducties (Operette & Musical). Seven years he was - after P. Struijk - artistic leader of the R.E.T.-Mannenkoor and also of the Westbrabants Operakoor. Also he led for several years the Cantoraat van St.Jan te Roosendaal, het chamber choir Animato at Vlaardingen, Gemengd Koor Spijkenisse at Spijkenisse, the Markiezaats Musicalkoor at Bergen op Zoom (which he set up himself) and the Toonkunstkoor Bergen op Zoom.

At this moment, in addition of being conductor and artistic leader of the Royal Male Voice Choir Die Haghe Sanghers (Koninklijk Mannenkoor Die Haghe Sanghers) Charles van der Veeke also is conductor of and Excelsior at Dirksland.
